Hollow Man to me is a typical invisble man movie however I found the main character and antagonist, Sebastian Craine, very interesting and his whole narcisstic personality compelling. I wish it leant a little more into the sadistic nature of Sebastian because I found those moments of the movie the most interesting to watch, I also found that it took a while for the movie to properly set up and I was just kind of waiting for things to happen, then at the end all hell breaks loose and things happen very quickly. The first half of the movie was a bit of a drag to get to but the second of the movie was very enjoyable to watch. Overall though I did really like the movie and I liked Linda and Mark a lot, I liked how Linda was the focus between them and she was always saving Mark from things, I liked Sebastian and I found his character funny to watch and interesting. Also throughout the movie I really liked the effects on Sebastian and in general I thought they were very cool looking.

Spoiler-Free: A very interesting movie that surprised me and left me constantly asking questions. Not too over the top gorey and not too little. I definitely recommend if you like psychological horror and thought-provoking movies
Candyman was a very interesting movie that constantly kept me asking questions and watching. I liked the use of gore as it never felt over excessive or too underwhelming, it was always shown at the perfect moment. The build up to the main antagonist "Candyman" was very intruiging and he truly did feel like the talk of the town, the thing everybody is afraid of. Helen is an interesting protagonist and the end of the movie especially was so satisfying to watch, she meant nothing to the people she was working for and with (aka the upper class white people) but meant everything to the lower class black people who society had cast aside and looked down upon. When her husband finally realised what she had meant to him, it was already too late to regret the damage that was caused. I like that the Candyman fixated on Helen in specific and tried to make her the same as him, showing he may have felt lonely being the way he is and needed a companion to fill that hole, she was freed from his torment at the end only to come back and continue it.

HALLOWEEN

GENRE:
Slasher Horror
DIRECTOR:
John Carpenter
RUNTIME:

Halloween is a classic slasher movie and one of the firsts, eventually creating a whole subgenre of horror flicks. I think it still holds up today as a horror movie, however it felt a little lackluster. There was a lot of times where I was just wishing for more and never got it, and other times where I just got bored. The times it did have action though and Michael Myers was in the spotlight, the movie did really shine, especially the ending of the movie and around the start where he was originally stalking Laurie. Michael as a character is very intruiging to me and interests me more than anything else within the Halloween franchise. I also like Laurie, but the other characters were very boring to me, and the acting was god awful at points. Despite its faults Halloween is undeniably a classic and I recommend it if you're just starting out to watch horror!

GREMLINS

Dark Comedy
DIRECTOR:
Joe Dante
RUNTIME:

I really enjoyed Gremlins as both a comedy movie and a somewhat-horror movie. I originally watched this as a kid and was terrified and I can definitely see why! Despite a lot of people thinking Gremlins is aimed towards kids, it's quite gruesome at times esepcially the whole sequence of Billy's mom murdering the gremlins in the kitchen. It was very enjoyable to watch and made me giggle a lot. The gremlins are so ugly but so cute they are like evil little trolls I love it. Of course you can't forget Gizmo who is an icon, everytime he was on screen I was squealing cuz he's so cute, my favourite scene was him driving his little car and helping Billy at the end kill Stripe. Gremlins is a must watch for anyone I highly recommend it.
